Project(ish)-Based Learning at Home

Let me preface this with the fact that I am by no means an expert on project-based learning (although I did my student teaching with an AMAZING master teacher who was), and that what we did last summer is more of a hybrid of project/literature-based.  What it was, though, was fun, and a great way to add some structure and intention to our days without feeling like we were having to force "learning."

Here is how we got started!

10 Engaging Resources to Make Home Learning Fun

Since so many of us have kids at home for an extra week or three, I thought it would be fun to round up some of my favorite resources to help make this a time of learning AND play.  Much of this is based off of what we did last summer, which was my first real, intentional time of structuring learning into our days.  I am a HUGE believer in free play, and my girls have in fact spent the entire time I spent writing this post in their rooms with their dollhouses happily unstructured, but as they've gotten older, I have enjoyed balancing in some structured activities as well.  Plus, a few screen-time favorites because it's raining outside all week long!

Grayceful Girls Bathroom Refresh

We have been in our house for about five years now, and we finally tackled the girls' bathroom upstairs.  You know what happens when you give a mouse a cookie? We had a bit of leftover flooring from our bathroom, so we put it into the girls' bathroom.

Grayceful Girls Birthday Adventures

I love to throw baby showers, and even first birthdays, but kids birthdays? They give me nightmares. We usually just host our Supper Club with a few additional family or friends, which takes the pressure way off.

Rainbow Round-Up

We have been getting some wacky weather lately: storms rolling in and out in the blink of an eye giving us pouring rain and blinding sun all at once.  The best part about this weather? Rainbows!  We have had the most stunning rainbows lately; I think I am more excited about them than the kids have been, but I've never seen such full and vibrant rainbows.  I've been trying to play in Lightroom to help my photos actually capture the splendor, but nothing compares to what God can do in real life!

There are so many retailers hopping on the rainbow trend lately, and even though they can't compare to the real thing, I'm getting all of the summer vibes from the cute products coming out!  I already bought the rash guard for the girls, and L caught a glimpse of the dress over my shoulder and put in a request... then she told me that maybe she wanted to have a rainbow theme for her birthday!  Ha.  As usual, that escalated quickly ;)
